ENHANCING THE COMPETITIVENESS OF LOCAL WINE VARIETIES IN THE IONIAN ISLANDS
The aim of the project is to highlight the vineyard of the Ionian Islands, which has a number of unique native varieties but, until now, they have not received the corresponding recognition and promotion. In Zakynthos, the red variety Augoustiatis is cultivated, for which there has been strong commercial interest recently. It is a variety with a strong aromatic identity but with unstable color & moderate body. The white variety Skiadopoulo is also found, but It gives wines with an euoxidic character. Kakotrygis, is a special variety from Corfu, also with a strongly euoxidic character. The highlighting of these varieties will be achieved through the resolution of the above problems.
